Who owns Mind Lab Pro?

It’s a project of Dublin-based company Opti-Nutra which saw an opportunity to compete with the US companies selling nootropics. That was around 2015 when the Silicon Valley crowd and the Limitless movie announced the smart drugs commercial beginning.

The company followed the success of established natural nootropic stacks such as CILTEP (2012) and Alpha Brain (2011). But, try to add more cognitive benefits, transparency, and purity to customers.

They’ve promoted its stim-free supplement as the first universal nootropic to boost all aspects of cognition with quality natural ingredients.

We’ve heard repeatedly from their competitors that Mindlab’s branding is sexy!

Is Mind Lab Pro legitimate?

We think it’s legitimate because the formulation is clear to the last detail.

  • It uses clinically proven compounds that naturally combine to enhance cognitive functions like memory, focus, mood, mental energy, and neuroprotective.

  • The eco-friendly and transparent formula doesn’t use fillers or proprietary ingredients.

  • No shady marketing tactics sell this product.

  • Although, their marketing strategy plays a big part in the success of Mind Lab Pro.

  • Their website is an excellent place for education about nootropics.

Scientifically proven by the University of Leeds study

Another thing that has done a favor is that Mind Lab Pro is officially scientifically proven by independent clinical research.

The Opti-Nutra team has linked up with the University of Leeds (in the UK) to conduct a 6-week human trial. The results were published on Mind Lab Pro’s official website.

In a clinically controlled trial, 120 adults were under the direction of four doctors of Psychology, Cognitive Psychology, Nutritional Research, and a Motor Control specialist.

They’ve measured the effects of Mind Lab Pro® vs. placebo in five key areas:

  • speed of response
  • anticipation
  • decision making
  • cognitive processing
  • sensory perception

“The results of the initial three-month study are impressive, to say the least. I was surprised by the degree of statistical significance. We have submitted our findings to peer-reviewed scientific journals for publication. We are soon to begin work on the next phase.”

– Dr Andrea Utley BA (Hons), PGCE, PhD. Reader in Motor Control and Development, University of Leeds

The team is also exploring a partnership with Yale University after their student alliance reported improved performance when studying with it.

Mind Lab Pro benefits

three students around table with laptops

This caffeine-free product can provide respectful benefits in the class of the dietary supplements for mental and physical health.

  • Boosts memory and cognitive functions

It enhances the production of neurotransmitters by strengthening cell membranes with lipids. That is how it affects the development of nerve cells in your brain. In clinical trials, the ingredients with most data for memory and cognitive benefits are Citicoline 250 mg as Cognizin®, organic Lion’s Mane 500 mg, and Bacopa Monnieri 150 mg.

  • Relieves from stress and anxiety

Rhodiola Rosea and Phosphatidylserine reduce cortisol, the primary stress hormone in the human body. Mind Lab Pro also improves catecholamine neurotransmitter production to feel rested and calm.

  • Nootropic action on brain cells

With the Mind Lab Pro nootropics, your brain cells can use the ingredients to function far better. That directly affects your memory and mood, giving you mental clarity.

  • Stable flow of energy throughout the day

Your brain cells use energy efficiently, and you are much more focused and work more efficiently.

  • Strengthen the defense of your brain cells

The molecules and vitamins in Mind Lab Pro protect the Central Nervous System (CNS) against oxidative stress and free radicals and thus promote its longevity.

What does Mind Lab Pro actually do?

Mind Lab Pro ingredients

This product came close to the complexities of the brain with 11 nootropics running in 6 biological pathways to maximize a wide range of cognitive features:

  • Brain chemistry
  • Brain energy
  • Brain regeneration
  • Brain circulation
  • Brain protection
  • Brain waves

Synergistic matrix concept

What makes the Mind Lab Pro work is:

  • use of evidence-backed nootropics
  • use of nootropics with multiple brain-boosting activities
  • best-in-class nutrient forms
  • a synergistic matrix with each nootropic bringing unique value

This “synergistic matrix” concept is the holy grail when creating a nootropic stack. Although each nootropic alone may require higher doses, in combination, they work better together in reduced doses.

Ingredients in the formulation work to:

  • Improved long-term memory recall
  • Enhanced brain repair and maintenance
  • Decreased oxidative stress (free radical damage)
  • Reduced amyloid plaque build-up
  • Improved mitochondrial energy output
  • Steadier mood and emotional balance
  • Stronger stress resistance
  • Increased cognitive longevity

Let’s now check the facts in the Mind Lab Pro composition.

Citicoline as Cognizin®

Citicoline is one of the top two types of choline for the brain. The other is Alpha GPC. Using citicoline, specifically the Cognizin brand, means Mind Lab Pro is seeking the finest quality. According to some research studies, citicoline can improve overall memory performance, especially episodic memory, in healthy males and females. Cognizin® is protective against memory loss due to aging (1.) The formulators might have added a slightly higher dosage, as the clinical is 500 mg. However, in combination with other components, 250 mg is still reliable.

Phosphatidylserine (PS) as Sharp PS® Green

As for safe nootropics, phosphatidylserine is one of the best. Frequently considered one of the best cognitive boosters to start, there is proof that kids fighting with ADHD can use the substance specifically to treat their symptoms. For other people, PS is useful for protecting neurological links. One Israel open-label study of elderly >60 utilized PS for six weeks. A favorable effect on memory in subjects with subjective memory complaints. PS-omega-3 is a safe alternative to phosphatidylserine extracted from the bovine cortex (2).

Bacopa Monnieri (24% potency of bacosides with 9 bioactives) (aerial parts)

One of the most famous (and well-studied) Ayurvedic herbs is Bacopa Monnieri. It has been referred to in Ayurveda for centuries as a Medhya Rasayan (nootropic). Various studies show Bacopa can lower anxiety and depression, improve memory formation and especially its decline, and help mental performance. It’s to the extract made can range from 15% Bacosides to 85% Bacosides. Every serving of Mind Lab Pro® is guaranteed to supply the nine active bacosides found in Bacopa most strongly associated with nootropic activity.

Organic Lion’s Mane Mushroom (Full-Spectrum Extract) (fruit)

Medicinal mushrooms are becoming popular lately, especially the Lion’s Mane mushroom. This is one of the rare mushrooms that have evidence of contributing directly to neurogenesis. One study found that 50 – 80-year-olds could improve cognitive abilities generally using the Lion’s Mane for 16 weeks. It is also suggested that Lion’s Mane may help to maintain mood balance. There is strong evidence of a Lion’s Mane improving nerve-growth factor (NGF). Mind Lab Pro® full fruit spectrum extract supplies all of the mushroom’s active constituents, including brain-boosting hericenones and erinacines.

Maritime Pine Bark Extract (95% proanthocyanidins)

Pine bark extract is a relatively uncommon nootropic despite having a lot of compelling science to back it up. PBEs have undergone numerous animal clinical trials, and various reports found them safe and well-tolerated with few side effects. One study in the Journal of Neurosurgical Sciences from 2015 found that healthy adults ages 35- 55 might improve markers for memory, focus, and decision making while using Pine bark extract. Other reports found enhanced mental energy, attention, learning, and focus in the short term. Also, PBE maintains memory, mental clarity, and brain functions in later years (3.)

L-Tyrosine as N-Acetyl-L-Tyrosine (NALT)

A vital natural chemical for focus and sensations of happiness is dopamine. One of the best methods of raising dopamine in the brain is an amino acid called tyrosine, specifically, an acetylated form called N-acetyl-L-Tyrosine (or NALT). NALT boosts concentration via the dopaminergic system. The most proof is in cognitive conservation. The studies found that NALT safeguards memory against stress, anxiety, and mood in military personnel subjected to stressors like cold and altitude. It has a nootropic ability to optimize attention span and focus. While the 175 mg could be higher, with so many ingredients, a lower dosage is likely much better.

L-Theanine as Suntheanine®

L-theanine is among well-studied nootropics to improve relaxation and creative thinking. L-Theanine also helps to reduce the harsh jittery side effects of caffeine. One Japanese four-week study of L-theanine found that stress-related symptom (i.e., depression, anxiety-trait, and sleep) scores decreased and cognitive function (i.e., verbal fluency, especially letter fluency, and executive function) scores improved (4.) Individuals have taken advantage of 200 mg of L-theanine. Suntheanine® is a premium form that supplies 100% pure L-Theanine but maybe not is better than normal L-theanine. It simply reveals Opti-Nutra’s commitment to high quality.

Rhodiola Rosea (3% rosavins, 1% salidrosides) (root)

Rhodiola Rosea is believed to stimulate and sustain cognition-critical neurotransmitters – including norepinephrine, dopamine, and serotonin. It is an effective nootropic use to combat anxiety and maintain mental function under stressful conditions. I was a little concerned with the dose in this stack. It does not seem like 50 mg will certainly do the trick, yet if there is one nootropic where a lower dosage could be handy than a greater dose, it is Rhodiola. Why? Rhodiola supplements operate on a bell curve where reduced doses can actually stimulate our brain in a different way than greater doses (and often more effectively).

Vitamin B6, B9, B12 (as nutrigenesis®)

A synergistic trio of B vitamins is here to target homocysteine metabolism. These nature-identical whole-food vitamins are well researched and crucial for cognitive health. Supplemental B6 + B9 + B12 has been shown to help balance homocysteine levels and promote mood balance, mental energy, information storage, and long-range brain health.

Mind Lab Pro® Caffeine free

Does Mind Lab Pro work immediately?

Potent natural products will work more slowly but are rather healthier and safer in the long run. You will feel their full power in a few weeks.

The main compounds mixed into this brain supplement offer a more cautious approach to dosage than found in clinical trials of individual components.

  • The clinical dose of Bacopa Monnieri is 250 – 320 mg, while in MLP is 150 mg.

  • The clinical dose of the Lion’s Mane mushroom is 1,000mg – 3,000 mg, while in MLP is 500 mg.

  • In human clinical studies, Rhodiola provides dose-dependent benefits. In larger doses, it becomes more of an antidepressant. Low dosage, like in the Mind Lab Pro, uplifts mental energy.

In my experience, these are nootropic compounds to use. You can combine them without issue.

But, was the Mind Lab pro

My experience of How to take Mind Lab Pro

Many of these nootropics worked for me before, like L-tyrosine, Lion’s Mane, and Rhodiola. So I was curious about the quality and potency of this premade nootropic stack.

Week 1

I decided to use MLP in my workplace because of the subtle but sustainable boost it gives me. As I already said, it has no caffeine to boost energy noticeably but it is paired well with it.

I took the first two capsules, and after a half hour, clean mental energy and focus started to happen. A calm endeavor and a boost in creativity last for about 4+ hours.

Week 2

I decided to increase my daily dose to 3-4 capsules. I felt the ingredients are working even better.

I felt I had a lot more clean energy in reserve.

I could see a subtle difference in my work. It became more comfortable and effortless on some days. If you take it and start working, you will already be deep in your work without realizing it.

Weeks 3 and 4

In the third week, I briefly cycled off MLP to avoid tolerance build-up.

What I consistently felt during the testing was my verbal fluency got better.

While playing guitar or any instrument (which is one of my tools for testing nootropics), I could have noticed my cognitive abilities were sharp.

Verdict

Is it the most potent stacked supplement of this kind I’ve tried on the market? No.

Will I be using it again on some occasions or during my nootropics cycles? Yes

Who do I recommend Mind Lab Pro? To beginners because of simplicity. Anyone who can invest in it because it gets better the longer you use it.

Mind Lab Pro® - Not all supplements are the same

Mind Lab Pro side effects

While I do not have any problems using Mind Lab Pro, I read from people that have started seeing real gastrointestinal issues (stomach cramps, nausea).

Bacopa is particularly known to cause digestive problems in some people. Particularly a ‘bad’ batch. Otherwise a very safe herb.

As I learned, such reactions can be because of botanical extracts. And they usually disappear when they adapt to your biochemistry.

Mind Lab Pro headache

Some nootropics cause headaches. Especially to people who react strongly to cholinergic compounds. Too much acetylcholine will cause mild headaches, and a few ingredients in this product are cholinergic.

A very small proportion of people say that Citicoline gives them mild headaches.

Therefore, for beginners of Mind Lab Pro, I would recommend trying a lower dose (1 cap) first or returning it for a refund. This advice applies to all nootropics you try or mix for the first time.

Mind Lab Pro with or without food?

I would recommend the beginners to take it with food as some of these nootropics are better absorbed in the fat sources. I usually take nootropics with MCT oil or raw coconut oil. But any form of fat would be great too. So take it with breakfast.

Mind Lab Pro makes me sleepy

If you find this brand makes you sleepy, you may consider buying the ingredients separately and introducing them one by one over weeks to months. You will most likely save money in the long run. Discover which of these 11 ingredients puts you to sleep.

Important:

  • Avoid taking it at night if you are trying to sleep, just for working all night or studying.
  • If you are using SSRI or other medications, don’t ever try to mix MLP without consultations with your health practitioner.
  • When you buy this supplement, talk with the manufacturer about any contraindications.

Mind Lab Pro Reddit

It’s always good to seek out Mind Lab Pro testimonials, and the experiences from Reddit are always a great source of information.

So while you may ask yourself if Mind Lab Pro is a scammy product or not, there are many reviews around that you can check.

Here is a quote:

”…But what Mind lab pro does to your brain’s seems like a permanent effect. I took it for a month and noticed nothing in the first week. The second week came with a mild state of awareness and presence. The third week came with a calm focus, though extreme cynicism, maybe due to the fact that I was able to understand a thing differently. After 3 weeks of no MLP, my brain works the same as on it, I was able to keep my mild enhanced cognitive performance, thought I lost 60% of the focus and ability to concentrate. I’m still 120%+ of what I was before taking them, so I do consider them as a permanent effect. Since Mind Lab Pro has no active stimulants, I’m 100%+ sure there is no physical or psychical addiction… Anyway as a neutral nootropic and as a mild improvement, I do recommend Mind Lab Pro.”

Mind Lab Pro® - What's your strategy for success?

Is Mind Lab Pro worth it?

Good nootropics are not cheap. Generally, you will get what you pay for.

Here is an analysis of how much each of these nootropics would cost if purchased individually at Mind Lab Pro quality.

Note that these competitive prices are given by Amazon in the US. Prices may vary in your part of the world or when you read this.

  • Bacopa Monnieri (45% bacosides) 250 mg – 90 capsules $14.99
  • Citicoline (Cognizin®) 250 mg – 60 capsules $20.38
  • Phosphatidylserine (PS) (Sharp PS® Green) 100 mg – 120 capsules $48.97
  • Lion’s Mane Mushroom (full-spectrum) 500 mg – 60 capsules $8.99
  • Rhodiola Rosea (3% rosavins, 1% salidrosides) 250 mg – 60 capsules $7.86
  • L-Theanine (Suntheanine®) 100 mg – 60 capsules $11.49
  • N-Acetyl-L-Tyrosine (NALT) 350 mg – 120 capsules $12.29
  • Pine Bark Extract (95% proanthocyanidins) 100 mg – 300 capsules $18.52
  • Vitamin B6 (P-5-P) 25 mg – 100 capsules $17.95
  • Vitamin B9 (folate) 400 mcg – 90 capsules $7.21
  • Vitamin B12 (Methylcobalamin) 1 mg – 60 capsules $18.95

When you purchased individually all these nootropics the price comes out to $187.60.

Although the doses in this comparison are often higher if used singly. Quantities per bottle are often greater than the monthly supply. I also included supplements packaged in vegetarian capsules whose price is a little higher than regular capsules.

The cost of purchasing each of these nootropics individually will be higher. Much more than what Opti-Nutra charges for the Mind Lab Pro stack.

Where to not buy Mind Lab Pro?

You can only order through the Opti-Nutra Mind Lab Pro website for the best deal »

They don’t want to be associated with other lower-quality online shops.

They are very clear about being the only point of sale.

  • Mind Lab Pro Amazon

If you see it being sold on Amazon or anywhere else, it is either third-party being sold at a higher price. This is fine, but you can get a better experience through the official web.

  • Mind Lab Pro GNC

This nootropic stack doesn’t sell at GNC either. You can read why is on the Mind Lab Pro F.A.Q. page. In fact, no one really cares about GNC nootropics. They are simply not the best place to find high-quality and properly dosed nootropic stacks. You can read our buy nootropic tips.

  • Mind Lab Pro Walgreens

This brain supplement is NOT available for purchase at Walgreens or any other mainstream stores.

Mind Lab Pro price

There is something in return, though:

  • You can also choose a quarterly stock (3 boxes) of Mind Lab Pro for $195.00 and get one box for free (including free international shipping and handling). It costs $48.75 per box. Also, you get a free bottle of Performance Lab® MCT Oil.

  • 1-month supply of 1 bottle for €49.50 with a discount of 10% from €55.00 along with the €1.65 standard serving.

If you take the recommended 2 capsules a day MLP price is $65.00 (+ shipping, and handling).

No promo codes are available from Mind Lab Pro. It’s already cheaper than when you buy these nootropics individually. They are thinking there is no need to aggressively sell it.

  • Mind Lab Pro vs. Alpha Brain

Alpha Brain is slightly more affordable. With $80 for 90 capsules, Alpha Brain costs about $1.78 a day. Mind Lab Pro costs $75 for 1 month of supply about $2.50 per day.

Alpha Brain and Mind Lab Pro have comparable ingredients although there is no filler in the MLP and it seems like a more rounded supplement.

These two nootropic supplements are generally effective due to the well-studied content of Bacopa Monnieri. Bacopa is well-dosed in these products which generally gives consistent results.

  • Mind Lab Pro vs. Qualia Mind

Comparing Mind Lab Pro and Qualia is a little harder than a direct comparison. Although MLP has 11 relatively solid ingredients and costs $2.50 per day, Qualia has 28 ingredients and costs $6.77 per day.

The problem is the big difference in the number of ingredients and the team involved. Neurohacker Collective has a large scientific team and a multitude of self-reported studies (internally) that make Mind Lab Pro and Qualia Mind almost impossible to compare.

But, if I’m on the budget I would rather invest in the Qualia Mind.

Both are great and pure cognitive enhancers in their own right. To get a feel for their differences, read also our Qualia Mind review.

  • Mind Lab Pro vs. Performance Lab Mind

Performance Lab Mind is kind of a simplified version of Mind Lab Pro. It is designed in this way to allow stacking with other supplements, such as caffeine pills, energy supplements, vision enhancers, etc.

Performance Lab Mind is really ideal if you are exclusively focused on improving executive cognitive function and protecting brain health long-term.

Compared to its more complicated cousin, Performance Lab Mind contains a ready-made double dose of NALT so you will see fast-acting cognitive results here.

  • Mind Lab Pro vs. Modafinil

Alternatives to Modafinil are hard to find among natural nootropic stacks. Modafinil is one of the most potent synthetic stimulants and probably a dream ‘smart drug’, in terms of a fast-acting brain stimulator for 12+ hours of productivity and a myriad of cognitive benefits (with proper use two days a week). It is affordable only through prescription or from generic substitutes without a prescription.

Both Mind Lab Pro and Modafinil are powerful nootropics with similar benefits which can help with overall cognitive enhancement. But, this is simply not a comparison because MLP is an immeasurably healthier supplement in the long run.

If you are interested to go beyond natural nootropics, you can find our list of best online vendors that supply generic modafinil and pharmaceutical-grade nootropics.

Mind Lab Pro review Conclusion

What we buy is not always what we get in terms of quality.

The fake, bad & good-to-know products are out there.

Many come from the marketing hype and misconceptions, excessive company costs, and other problems in the nootropic industry.

This often leaves us, consumers, as a weak link in someone’s profit chain.

Mind Lab Pro is one of the top five most comprehensive ready-made stacks on the market. The stacks that you can trust to try. But, there are also a premade nootropic stacks at the marked right now that are even better.

But, as of 2022, Mind Lab Pro has the status of a scientifically proven supplement made in independent research. This help nootropics and their image in general.

Once more…

Mind Lab Pro enhances focus and energy, increases learning capacity, reduces stress, promotes neurogenesis, and protects the brain from oxidative stress.
