Simply The Best Nootropic Supplement 2021?
Mind Lab Pro review
Have you ever wondered what a ‘universal nootropic’ stack should look like?
One that has quality researched compounds that naturally combine and provide better memory, focus, mood, clean energy, and neuroprotective.
Also, the one that will not use filler ingredients, proprietary formula, and shady marketing tactics to sell?
There is Mind Lab Pro® that is by consensus one of the best in the nootropic industry.
In our list of the best nootropic stacks, we chose the advantages and disadvantages of different nootropic supplements found online.
My team think there is no exclusive winner for the best nootropic stack because each individual has different goals and biochemistry in response to nootropics.
But a few products have all the quality to be called the best.
Mind Lab Pro brain supplement has won us over at all selected points.

Where is Mind Lab Pro manufactured?
Mind Lab Pro® is a premium nootropic blend developed by Opti-Nutra® in the U.K. The company promotes Mind Lab Pro as “the first Universal Nootropic” stack that boosts all aspects of cognition in many people.
There are a few good reasons Mind Lab Pro supplement has become so popular within the nootropic industry. A few strong points to consider:
- They are exceptional with their marketing and have the business savvy
- Their referrals network is also great
- The excellent clean formula that does what it claims
- MLP website is a great place to educate about natural nootropics.
- Gives results to thousands of customers over the years
This brand’s team is not as big as in some other companies with names on the poster. Therefore, some have tried to blame them because there is little evidence of the leadership or team’s existence.
But all we noticed in our contacts with Opti-Nutra is high professionalism, knowledge, awareness, and readiness to help.
Mind Lab Pro benefits
Boosts memory, mood, and cognitive functions
It acts directly on the cells of your brain to produce more neurotransmitters. Ingredients strengthen cell membranes by giving them the right lipids for the job. Nerve cells in your brain can develop to the fullest.
Relieves from stress and anxiety
Ingredients in this stack like Rhodiola Rosea and Phosphatidylserine reduce cortisol, the primary stress hormone in the human body. MLP can improve catecholamine production, giving the right neurotransmitters to make your brain feel rested and calm.
Nootropic action on brain cells
When you take Mind Lab Pro stack, you predispose your brain cells to keep the energy and vitamins and function far better. It directly affects your memory and mood, recovering your mental quality.
Makes brain cells use energy efficiently
It offers you a stable flow of energy throughout the day and makes you much more concentrated while helping you work more efficiently.
strengthen the defense of your brain cells
The nerve cell membrane is strengthened by Mind Lab Pro ingredients. As a result, nerve signals passing through the layers are more acute and direct than ever before.
How Mind Lab Pro work?
Mind Lab Pro approaches the brain complexity with 11 nootropics operating in 6 bio-pathways to optimize a broad range of cognitive functions.
- Brain chemistry
- Brain energy
- Brain regeneration
- Brain circulation
- Brain protection
- Brain waves
The key to making this nootropic stack work is three things:
- Use of only evidence-backed nootropics
- Use of nootropics with multiple brain-boosting activities in only best-in-class nutrient forms
- A synergistic matrix with each nootropic bringing unique value
This idea of a “synergistic matrix” is a big deal when putting together a nootropic stack. Although each nootropic alone may require higher doses, when combined, they work better together in the brain at lower doses.
Mind Lab Pro Dosage
While lower doses are actually safer, you will see the full stack potency gradually. Sometimes, in days or weeks.
A few main compounds in this brain supplement offer a more cautious approach in terms of doses than in clinical trials of individual components.
The actual clinical dose of Bacopa Monnieri is 250 – 320 mg, while in MLP it’s 150 mg.
Lion’s Mane (1,000mg – 3,000 mg is again the real clinical dose), while in MLP is 500 mg.
Rhodiola appears to be too low in MLP, but in human clinical studies it provides benefits of dose-dependent mental energy. The interesting thing about Rhodiola is that it can actually work both ways – in larger doses it becomes more of a depressant, so more is not better in this case.
In our experience, these are good nootropic compounds to use and you can combine them without issue. Opti–Nutra™ worked on them down to the last detail for its synergistic potency.
Mind Lab Pro long term effects
The basic rule with any type of stimulating cognitive substances is:
If it’s easier to consume and if you feel really good with short-term use, chances are it won’t work in the long run.
On the other hand, natural nootropics take some time to reach peak effects and to enhance mental performance in a way that stimulants never can.
Ingredients in the MLP formulation work for a short-term and long-term brain boost.
As we said earlier, taking them you can expect these improvements:
- Improved long-term memory recall
- Enhanced brain repair and maintenance
- Decreased oxidative stress (free radical damage)
- Reduced amyloid plaque build-up
- Improved mitochondrial energy output
- Steadier mood and emotional balance
- Stronger stress resistance
- Increased cognitive longevity
Let’s now check in detail the Mind Lab Pro composition.
Mind Lab Pro Ingredients
Citicoline as Cognizin®
Citicoline is one of the top two types of choline for the brain. The other is Alpha GPC. Using citicoline and specifically, the Cognizin brand means Mind Lab Pro is seeking the finest quality. According to some research studies, citicoline can improve overall memory performance, especially episodic memory, in healthy males and females. Cognizin® is protective against memory loss due to aging (1.) The formulators might have added a slightly higher dosage, as clinical is 500 mg, however in combination with other components 250 mg is still reliable.
Phosphatidylserine (PS) as Sharp PS® Green
As for safe nootropics, phosphatidylserine is one of the best. Frequently considered as one of the best basic cognitive boosters, there is proof that kids fighting with ADHD can use the substance specifically to treat their symptoms. For other people, PS is useful for protecting neurological links. In one Israel open-label study of elderly people >60 utilizing PS for 6 weeks can have a favorable effect on memory in subjects with subjective memory complaints. PS-omega-3 may serve as a safe alternative to phosphatidylserine extracted from the bovine cortex (2).
Bacopa Monnieri (24% potency of bacosides with 9 bioactives) (aerial parts)
One of the most famous (and well-studied) Ayurvedic herbs is Bacopa Monnieri. It has been referred to in Ayurveda for centuries as a “Medhya Rasayan” (nootropic). Various studies show Bacopa can lower anxiety and depression, improve memory formation and especially its decline, and help in general mental performance. It’s to be mentioned that the extract made can range from 15% Bacosides all the way to 85% Bacosides. Every serving of Mind Lab Pro® is guaranteed to supply the 9 active bacosides found in Bacopa that are most strongly associated with nootropic activity.
Organic Lion’s Mane Mushroom (Full-Spectrum Extract) (fruit)
Medicinal mushrooms are becoming popular lately especially the Lion’s Mane mushroom. This is one of the rare mushrooms that have evidence of contributing directly to neurogenesis. One study found 50 – 80-year-olds could improve cognitive abilities generally using the Lion’s Mane for 16 weeks. It is also suggested that Lion’s Mane may help to maintain mood balance. There is strong evidence of a Lion’s Mane improving nerve-growth factor (NGF). Mind Lab Pro® full fruit spectrum extract supplies all of the mushroom’s active constituents, including brain-boosting hericenones and erinacines.
Maritime Pine Bark Extract (95% proanthocyanidins)
Pine bark extract is a relatively uncommon nootropic despite having a lot of compelling science to back it up. PBEs have undergone numerous animal experiments and clinical trials, and almost all reports found them to be safe and well-tolerated with few side effects. One study in the Journal of Neurosurgical Sciences from 2015 located that healthy adults ages 35- 55 might improve markers of memory, focus, and decision making while using pine bark extract. Other reports are to enhance mental energy, attention, learning, focus in the short-term; as well as maintain memory, mental clarity, and brain health in later years (3.)
L-Tyrosine as N-Acetyl-L-Tyrosine (NALT)
A vital natural chemical for focus and sensations of happiness is dopamine. One of the best methods of raising dopamine in the brain is with an amino acid called tyrosine and specifically an acetylated form called N-acetyl-L-Tyrosine (or NALT). Although the NALT boosts concentration via the dopaminergic system, the most proof is on cognitive conservation. The studies found NALT safeguard memory against stress, and anxiety, as well as mood in military personnel that was subjected to stressors like cold and altitude. It has drawn academic interest for its nootropic ability to optimize attention and focus. While the 175 mg could be higher, with a lot of ingredients a lower dosage is likely much better.
L-Theanine as Suntheanine®
L-theanine is among well-studied nootropics to improve relaxation and creative thinking. L-Theanine also helps to reduce the harsh jittery side effects of caffeine. One Japanese four-week study of L-theanine found that stress-related symptom (i.e., depression, anxiety-trait, and sleep) scores decreased and cognitive function (i.e., verbal fluency, especially letter fluency, and executive function) scores improved (4.) Individuals have taken advantage of 200 mg of L-theanine. Suntheanine® is a premium form that supplies 100% pure L-Theanine but maybe not better than normal L-theanine. It simply reveals Opti-Nutra’s commitment to high quality.
Rhodiola Rosea (3% rosavins, 1% salidrosides) (root)
Rhodiola Rosea is believed to stimulate and sustain cognition-critical neurotransmitters – including norepinephrine, dopamine, and serotonin. It is an effective nootropic use to combat anxiety and maintain mental function under stressful conditions. I was a little concerned with the dose in this stack. It does not seem like 50 mg will certainly do the trick, yet if there is one nootropic where a lower dosage could be handy than a greater dose, it is Rhodiola. Why? Rhodiola supplements operate on a bell curve where reduced doses can actually stimulate our brain in a different way than greater doses (and often more effectively).
Vitamin B6, B9, B12 (as nutrigenesis®)
A synergistic trio of B vitamins is here to target homocysteine metabolism. These nature-identical whole-food vitamins are well researched and crucial for cognitive health. Supplemental B6 + B9 + B12 has been shown to help balance homocysteine levels and promote mood balance, mental energy, information storage, and long-range brain health.
Mind Lab Pro experience
I have explored the single ingredients included in Mind Lab Pro even before I’ve tried this supplement. Many of these nootropics are subtle but worked for me, like L-tyrosine, Lion’s Mane, and Rhodiola.
I was curious about the quality and potency of this premade blend, and excited by the time Mind Lab Pro came to my door with fast delivery.
How long does it take for the Mind Lab Pro to work?
I knew by the ingredients, it will be subtle at first but sustainable boost over time. All the best supplements that use no caffeine to boost energy have it.
I took the first 2 capsules and half an hour later, which is a time needed for absorption, I started feeling magic…
Clean mental energy with greater focus, increased awareness, a calmer endeavor, and a boost in creativity.
It was mind relaxing and it stayed for a good 4+ hours.
Like in the next days.
How to take Mind Lab Pro?
If you take it and then start working right away, then you will already be deep in your work without realizing it at all. Then, when you realize that something is happening and that you are progressing because of it, you type for 4 hours and you have created something really good!
That’s about what was happening the second week when I decided to increase my daily dose to 3-4 capsules. I felt the ingredients are working even better.
I could see a subtle difference in my work. It became more comfortable and effortless on some days.
Besides improving my focus which led to a boost in productivity, I felt I had a lot more clean energy in reserve.
Weeks 3 and 4
In the third week, I briefly cycled off MLP to avoid tolerance build-up.
What I consistently felt during the testing was my verbal fluency got better. It was easier to catch my thoughts with my mouth as no real distractions seem to exist in terms of brain fog, mood, and stress.
While playing with the guitar (which is one of my master’s tools for testing supplements and nootropics), I could have quickly noticed how I’m cognitively better prepared for creativity.
I will be regularly updated to show you how this supplement works long-term. For now, this is my subjective verdict.
The regular tests at my workplace and privately proved me that taking Mind Lab Pro improve my cognitive performance.
Not to forget to mention two important things.
Avoid taking it at night if you are trying to sleep and not working all-night or studying.
Also, if you are using SSRI or other medications don’t ever try to mix MLP without consultations with your health practitioner. When you buy this supplement always talk with the manufacturer about any contraindications.
Mind Lab Pro Side effects
To avoid side effects, many manufacturers of nootropics put lower doses in capsules.
That’s also why the fillers come into play. Or too much caffeine to mask the effects.
That’s when the risk of side effects is higher.
But not in this brain supplement. They increased the capacity of the capsule with safe ingredients in the range of clinical doses.
While I didn’t have any problems using Mind Lab Pro I read from people that have started seeing real gastrointestinal issues (bad stomach cramps, nausea).
As I learned in my beginnings, usually such reactions can be caused by botanical extracts. And they usually disappear when they adapt to your biochemistry.
Bacopa is particularly known to cause digestive problems in some people. Particularly a ‘bad’ batch. Otherwise a very safe herb.
Mind Lab Pro headache
Some nootropics cause headaches. Especially in people who react strongly to cholinergic compounds. Too much acetylcholine will cause mild headaches and a few ingredients in this product are cholinergic.
A very small proportion of people say that Citicoline gives them mild headaches.
Therefore, for beginners of Mind Lab Pro, I would recommend that you try a lower dose (1 cap) first, otherwise return it for a refund. This advice applies to all nootropics you try or mix for the first time.
Mind Lab Pro with or without food?
I would recommend the beginners to take it with food as some of these nootropics are better absorbed in the fat sources. I usually take nootropics with MCT oil or raw coconut oil. But any form of good fat would be great too. So take it with breakfast.
Mind Lab Pro makes me sleepy
If you find this brand makes you sleepy, you may want to consider buying the ingredients separately and introducing them one by one over a period of weeks to months. You will most likely save money in the long run. And you’ll discover which of these 11 ingredients puts you to sleep.
Mind Lab Pro Reddit
It’s always good to seek out Mind Lab Pro testimonials, and the experiences from Reddit are always a great source of information.
So while you may ask yourself if Mind Lab Pro is a scammy product or not, there are many reviews around that you can check.
Here is a quote:
”…But what Mind lab pro does to your brain’s seems like a permanent effect. I took it for a month and noticed nothing in the first week. The second week came with a mild state of awareness and presence. The third week came with a calm focus, though extreme cynicism, maybe due to the fact that I was able to understand a thing differently. To answer your question, after 3 weeks of no MLP, my brain works the same as on it, I was able to keep my mild enhanced cognitive performance, thought I lost 60% of the focus and ability to concentrate. I’m still 120%+ of what I was before taking them, so I do consider them as a permanent effect. Since Mind Lab Pro has no active stimulants, I’m 100%+ sure there is no physical or psychical addiction… Anyway as a neutral nootropic and as a mild improvement, I do recommend Mind Lab Pro.”
Is Mind Lab Pro worth it?
Good nootropics are not cheap. Generally, you will get what you pay for.
Is Mind Lab Pro supplement legit to buy?

- Vitamin B12 (Methylcobalamin) 1 mg – 60 capsules $18.95
When you purchased individually all these nootropics the price comes out to $187.60.
Although the doses in this comparison are often higher if used singly. Quantities per bottle are often greater than the monthly supply. I also included supplements packaged in vegetarian capsules whose price is a little higher than regular capsules.
The cost of purchasing each of these nootropics individually will be higher. Much more than what Opti-Nutra charges for Mind Lab Pro stack.
Mind Lab Pro price
If you take the recommended 2 capsules a day MLP price is only $65.00 (+ shipping, and handling).
You can also choose a quarterly stock (3 boxes) of Mind Lab Pro for $195.00 and get one box for free (including free international shipping and handling). It costs $48.75 per box.
Where to buy Mind Lab Pro?
You can only order Mind Lab Pro through the Opti-Nutra website. They don’t want to be associated with other lower-quality nootropics places. They are very clear about being the only point of sale.
- Mind Lab Pro Amazon
If you see it being sold on Amazon or anywhere else, it is either third-party or being sold illegally at a higher price.
- Mind Lab Pro GNC
This nootropic stack doesn’t sell at GNC either. You can read why is on the Mind Lab Pro F.A.Q. page. In fact, no one really cares about GNC nootropics. They are simply not the best place to find high-quality and properly dosed nootropic stacks. You can read our buy nootropic tips.
- Mind Lab Pro Walgreens
This brain supplement is NOT available for purchase at Walgreens or any other mainstream stores.
Mind Lab Pro discount code
No discount codes are available from Mind Lab Pro either. It’s already cheaper than you can buy these quality nootropics individually. When you have a stellar quality supplement like this, there is no need to aggressively sell it.
Mind Lab Pro comparison
Mind Lab Pro vs. Alpha Brain
Alpha Brain is slightly more affordable. With $80 for 90 capsules, Alpha Brain costs about $1.78 a day. Mind Lab Pro costs $75 for 1 month of supply about $2.50 per day.
The ingredients in Mind Lab Pro are comparable to Alpha Brain although there is no filler. Mind Lab Pro somehow seems like a more rounded supplement.
These two nootropic supplements are generally effective due to the well-studied content of Bacopa Monnieri. Bacopa is well dosed in these products which generally gives consistent results.
Mind Lab Pro vs. Qualia Mind
Comparing Mind Lab Pro and Qualia is a little harder than a direct comparison. Although MLP has 11 relatively solid ingredients and costs $2.50 per day, Qualia has 28 ingredients and costs $6.77 per day.
The problem is the big difference in the number of ingredients and the team involved. Neurohacker Collective has a large scientific team and a multitude of self-reported studies (internally) that make Mind Lab Pro vs Qualia Mind almost impossible to compare.
Both are great and pure cognitive enhancers in its own right. To get a feel for their differences, read also our Qualia Mind review.
Mind Lab Pro vs. Performance Lab Mind
Performance Lab Mind is kind of a simplified version of Mind Lab Pro. It is designed in this way to allow stacking with other supplements, such as caffeine pills, energy supplements, vision enhancers, etc.
Performance Lab Mind is really ideal if you are exclusively focused on improving executive cognitive function and promoting long-term brain health.
Compared to its more complicated cousin, Performance Lab Mind contains a ready-made double dose of NALT so you will see fast-acting cognitive results here.
Mind Lab Pro vs. Modafinil
Modafinil alternatives are hard to find among natural nootropic stacks. Modafinil is one of the most potent synthetic stimulants and probably a dream ‘smart drug’, both in terms of cognitive benefits and safety of use for healthy individuals (but only with proper use of two days a week). It is affordable only through prescription or from generic substitutes without prescription.
Mind Lab Pro stack is over-the-counter solution to improve cognitive performance using well-studied natural ingredients that do not have a serious risk of side effects. These universal 11 nootropics are very effective once they start working at full power.
The primary effect of Modafinil is to help people who suffer from sleep-related fatigue, as well as healthy people who want a fast-acting brain stimulator for 12+ hours of productivity and myriad of cognitive benefits.
Both Mind Lab Pro and Modafinil are powerful nootropics with similar benefits which can help with overall cognitive enhancement. But, this is simply not a comparison because MLP is an immeasurably healthier supplement in the long run.
If you are interested to go beyond natural nootropics, you can find our list of best online vendors that stock generic modafinil and pharmaceutical grade nootropics.
What we buy is not always what we get in terms of quality.
The good, bad & good-to-know products are out there ready to go.
Many of them come from marketing hype with misconceptions, excessive company costs, and other problems in the nootropic industry. This often leaves us, consumers, as a weak link in someone’s profit chain.
This brand is without any doubt one of the top five most comprehensive nootropic stacks on the market right now. It delivers an awesome universal combination of nootropics effectively and powerfully.
Each ingredient has been thoroughly tested in clinical trials and Opti–Nutra™ has chosen to include the best ingredients to get the job done.
Mind Lab Pro enhances focus and energy, increases learning capacity, reduces stress, promotes neurogenesis, and protects the brain from oxidative stress.
This is for total brain optimization.
